INSULATION

Attic insulation can prevent up to 97% of outdoor heat from making its way into your home!

Attic Insulation

You can think of insulation as a thermal blanket for your home, keeping it warm during the winters and cool during summers.

During winter and summer your attic reaches extreme temperatures. A layer of insulation keeps the intense hot and cold temperatures from getting into your home. Insulation also helps with your utlity bills because unlike your AC unit, your insulation does not need power to keep itself on. It is on all the time and does not require electricity to do this.

Quick and important facts about attic insulation:

  • During Summer weather, your attic temperature can reach upwards of 130  degrees Fahrenheit with most of the heat being absorbed from the outside
  • Heated air is trapped in the attic and slowly makes its way into your home preventing your home from maintain consistent temperature

Blown-in Insulation

One of the best and most effective types of insulation is blown- in. This method completely covers the attic floor with approximately 6-12” of fiberglass insulation. During summer, insulation absorbs heat and prevents it from making its way into your home. During the winter time, insulation will protect the heat in your home by creating a thermal blanket between your home and the cold weather outside allowing you to turn on your heater less and less heat escaping from your home.

Blown-in insulation can be sprayed directly into the attic so it covers every single nook and crevice leaving no part untouched.

Other pros of blown in insulation are:

  • It can be layered over existing insulation for extra comfort
  • Blown-in insulation can be treated with borates which actually helps pests from settling in your attic
  • Cellulose attic insulation is made up of recycled materials making it a viable “GREEN” option with no harmful chemicals

While installing attic insulation yourself may seem appealing, it’s highly recommended to hire an insulation professional. Many attics contain hazards that can be difficult to navigate, such as high heat levels, sharp objects like nails, and non-sturdy or hidden floors/ceiling joists. By hiring a professional, you ensure that HVAC ducts and ceilings are not damaged during the process.

Improving your existing attic insulation or installing new insulation can help you save up to 30% on your energy bills. Proper insulation reduces the workload on your heating and cooling systems, leading to lower energy consumption and costs.

The process typically involves:

  • Site Visit: A professional will perform a site inspection to assess your current insulation and determine the best course of action.

  • Preparation: Technicians will place protective barriers and prepare the area for installation.

  • Installation: The chosen insulation material is installed to achieve the desired R-value.

  • Post-Installation: Before and after pictures are taken for your records, and any necessary rebates or applications are processed.

No. We don’t provide the lowest cost but we do provide a fair price for the level of service we offer. The true cost of a low-end provider is the inconvenience of scheduling, repeat calls, and unsatisfactory results.

To be honest, some of our customers told us they called “Cheap Charlie” first. Then, after what looked like a low cost, they still had problems, couldn’t get them solved, and finally called us to fix it right. A few extra dollars now saves time, effort, and money in the long run.
